July 2026 Round-Up from Chrissy Hartmann

🐾 Hayden and Punkin’s Trail Report

Can you believe summer is already halfway over? Seems like just yesterday I was watching the spring flowers bloom, and now we’re already talking county fairs, festivals, and fall around the bend. Time sure has a way of galloping by.

This past month has been one wild ride. When I got the telegram—I mean, phone call—from The Seeing Eye saying they had found my new guide dog, I was plum tickled pink! I was headed to New Jersey at the end of June to meet my new partner, but before I could hit the trail, there was a mountain of work to get done.. and a whole lot of cuddling with Punkin to reassure her I would be back in 18 days… and with a new brother for her too. HaHa!

    🐾 Meet Hayden!

Well, I survived the bumpy airplane ride, but that’s about where “normal” ended.

My very first solo route at guide dog school froze my back tighter than an old barn door in January. Then Mother Nature decided to show off. During some of the hottest days of the summer—with temperatures climbing well over 100 degrees—the air conditioning quit working.

Not long after that, an 80-mile-per-hour windstorm rolled through Morristown, knocking out power not only across town but at The Seeing Eye campus itself.

The school moved everyone to the Hyatt Hotel on July 3rd while crews worked to restore the AC and power. Let’s just say… it wasn’t exactly the luxury cattle drive I’d imagined. And celebrating America’s 250th birthday in a hotel room with nothing to do didn’t rank high on this cowgirl’s list.

Because training couldn’t continue as planned, our class was shortened. Eventually all of us retrains were sent home a day early since there wasn’t much our instructors could do while we were scattered around the hotel.

Truth be told, I probably spent as much time wandering the hotel trying to find my room, the elevator, a place to park Hayden, or somewhere to grab a bite to eat as I did actually relaxing. If I head back again in another eight or ten years, I’m hoping Mother Nature gives us a little more cooperation!

    But despite all the craziness…

I came home with my new partner, Hayden!

And thankfully, the flight home was smooth as butter. Thank the Good Lord for that. Woohoo!

Little did I know the adventure was only beginning… more next update.

    📚 From My Writing Desk…

The writing trail has been just as busy with the bossherd driving their authors to the stockyard A.K.A. the publish button.

    Whiskey Kisses

    My proof copy finally arrived!

    Whiskey Kisses proof copy

This Sunday my formatter, Alexandra, and I will be giving it one final ride-through. If everything looks good, I’m hoping to have it available for preorder before August 17th.

    Life Flight Kisses

Next up is Life Flight Kisses.

The manuscript ended up about sixteen pages longer than expected, which means the cover has to be resized before we can publish. Keep your fingers crossed that my cover designer can get ‘er done in time. If all goes well, we’re still aiming for an August 17th release.

    Treasuring Whiskey’s Salvation

Just before leaving for guide dog school, I finished writing Treasuring Whiskey’s Salvation.

Now that it’s had time to rest, I can finally start editing with fresh eyes… I think!

My goal is to release it this November. now I’m picturing a cowboy, a beach, and one breathtaking sunset. Sounds like the perfect place for a romance to bloom, don’t you think?

The cover is still rolling around in my imagination. Right

🤠 Something New Is Ridin’ Into Town!

I’ve been busy behind the scenes fixing up the ranch, and before long you’ll be able to order autographed books and Prickle Forrest Books merchandise right here on ChrissyHartmann.com—and at prices that’ll be a little kinder to your wallet than buying through the big online retailers.

We’re not quite ready to swing open the barn doors just yet, but we’re getting mighty close!

In the meantime, you can still save a few dollars on my books by visiting each book’s page on my website and clicking the “Sale” link. While those copies won’t be personally autographed, I’d still love to make them a little more special. Just send me a message after you place your order, and I’ll happily mail you a complimentary signed bookplate along with a little personal note. That way, you can add my signature to your book when it arrives.

  • Prickle Forrest Chronicles May 2026 New Books, Boot Barn Temptation, and Possible Puppy News

    Prickle Forrest Chronicles

    May 2026

    Howdy Prickles!

Well now, May sure came in like a runaway colt and never slowed down once. I’m mighty thankful for all the blessings this month brought, but I’ll admit… I’m looking forward to June easing up the pace just a smidge. Unless, of course, a dog guide pup becomes available. Then all bets are off around here. Hmm?

    Book Event Roundup

This past month had me hitting the trail for both the 3rd annual Newark Book Fest and the 1st Artasia & Bookie Nights festival. I had mighty high hopes for both events, but Mother Nature apparently missed the memo. Rainy skies and chilly weather rolled in for both festivals.

The Newark Book Festival, held downtown at their  brick pavilion, would’ve been downright beautiful under sunny skies. Same goes for Artasia & Bookie Nights at The Ribbon at the Glass City Metropark up in Toledo, Ohio. Even with the cold and rain, both events still proved worth the trip.

There’s just something special about getting out and meeting readers, fellow authors, and folks who simply love books all while dodging the rain.

And to every single reader who braved the weather and purchased a book — thank you kindly. Truly. It’s folks like you all who make all the long writing nights worthwhile.

    Boot Scootin’ News

My Little piggy on the right tootsie is officially healed up and back into regular boots again! That means no more weekly foot doc visits around these parts, and I couldn’t be happier.

While digging through the closet, I rediscovered two pairs of boots I apparently bought a few years back and somehow forgot about. One pair’s a dark brown everyday style, and the other’s a chestnut pair that’s a little dressier — perfect for book events and author shenanigans.

Most days, though, you’ll still find me stomping around in my favorite black boots or those simple dark brown ones.

Now… I did wander into Boot Barn and spotted two mighty purty pairs of boots. One had hearts stitched all over ’em and the other had daisies. Trouble is, neither pair came in knee-highs, so I talked myself out of buying them.

    Barely.

Makes a gal wonder just how far away Christmas really is…

    New Releases & Writing News

I’m thrilled to finally announce that Tacking of Hearts is officially published! This is Book One in the Buckeye Hearts and Lone Star Kisses – Whiskey Salvation Heartland Tales Collection and it’s available now on Kindle Unlimited, paperback, and digital.

And hold onto your hats because Book Two, Life Flight Kisses, is headed your way this August. I’m currently hard at work formatting it, and I truly think y’all are going to fall head over boots for this story.

Over in Whiskey, Texas, Whiskey Kisses is all formatted and waiting on final edits before release day on August 17th. Punkin says it’s the Meow “Meow” of books.

Meanwhile, I’m busy finishing up Treasuring Whiskey’s Salvation. Only eight chapters left to write, so I better saddle up and keep this wagon moving.

Reason being? I haven’t the faintest clue when I’ll get the smoke signal — or maybe a Pony Express rider — telling me it’s time to head to The Seeing Eye in New Jersey for my new guide dog. That could happen any time this summer.

Once that call comes, I’ll be off for three weeks of training with my new pup, and life’s going to get wonderfully busy around here. I promise to keep y’all updated every step of the way.

    Helping the Pups

I’m also working on something mighty special with The Seeing Eye. My hope is to partner with them so they can carry The Grub Wrangler and Gruff: Dog Biscuit Almanac in their gift shop, with proceeds from the digital editions going directly back to help support the school and the pups.

    Now I’ve got a favor to ask…

If you’ve tried out the recipes for your pups, I’d love to hear how they liked them. And if you’d be willing to leave a review over on Goodreads, I’d be mighty grateful.

I’m hoping to gather a few more reviews to help show just how much pups and their humans are enjoying the cookbook. Every review truly helps more than you know.

Until next time, keep your boots dusty, your coffee strong, and your hearts open to a little romance.

    Chrissy Hartmann

Now kick off your boots, grab a Whiskey romance, and settle in for some cowboy kisses, messy hearts, and small-town sparkle filled with hope!

  • Prickle Forrest Chronicles by Chrissy Hartmann April 2026 – Books, Boots, Piggies, and a Whole Lot of Hope!

    Prickle Forrest Chronicles

    Chrissy Hartmann

    April 2026

    Howdy Prickles!

Pull up a chair and let’s chat a spell.

Lately, I’ve been noticing something out on the reader trail — folks are craving stories with a little more hope stitched into the seams. The kind that sticks with you after you close the book. The kind that reminds you life might buck a little… but it ain’t done being beautiful.

Truth is, most of my stories have always carried a thread of hope. I just can’t help myself—it sneaks in between the banter and the messy hearts every time.

    But this year?

I’m leaning into it even more.

    A little deeper healing.
    A few more second chances.
And plenty of love stories that prove it’s never too late to start again.

So keep an eye out for the new books riding in this year…
especially Tacking of Hearts and Whiskey Kisses!

Tacking of Hearts book cover with sailboat moored at dock with rroses, cowboy hat and cowboy boots

    Whiskey Kisses Tagline:
A small-town vet, a stubborn cowboy, and one tangled past—turns out love’s got a way of showing up when you least expect it… and refusing to leave.

It’s got sass, sparks, and just enough heart-tug to make you sigh into your coffee… or purr!

    🤠 Upcoming Events

I’ll be hitting the trail for Bellaire, Ohio. The Bellaire Public Library is hosting another author roundup for their author series on April 25th. We’ll be there all day from 9 am to 4 pm. I’ll be sharing my chuckwagon table with Ms. Cary Sowers again.

Then another trail I’ll blaze with two author friends is to the Artisian and Bookie Nights May 16th. I’ve got a new setup and will have lots for the readers. So saddle up and join me. I’d love to see ya at my table. And for those who aren’t able to head out, here’s a little teaser of what my new table might look like.

Chrissy Hartmann's table display with daisy and heart tablecloth, Whiskey Salvation books, and hay bale.

I’ll send more pictures next month. Still working on a few things. And yes, that’s a real hay bale too.

    Woohoo!

And speaking of chuckwagons. I’m trying to secure a spot on a real-life wagon ride that Bellmont county hosts every year in June on the old National Road. I’ll be taking The Grub Wrangler along with me. Maybe I can get their chuckwagon cook to rustle up a dish or two of GWs. Keep your digits crossed it works. More details on this journey coming soon… stay tuned!)

    🐷 Little Piggy Status…

Still waiting on this little piggy to behave… but we’re hopeful over here. Wound is almost closed, but old Doc Marshall thinks if we change treatment up a bit, it’ll close before spring’s end. So even though progress may have ventured down the wrong trail a bit, the little piggy is headed in the right direction now — one careful step at a time. And it’s a darn good time too. Just got a telegraph from the trainers at the dog guide school telling me they might have a pup for me. He’s a German Shepherd, which is what I put in for. He’s got a strong pull and quick pace. Little worried there as I’m deconditioned from all this piggy stuff. But, don’t expect to be hitting the trail until late May. So do have some time to do some intense training before I go. Problem might be getting one of the cowhands to help me out with all the practice walking I’ll need to do. But, the weather’s getting nice and if I bribe them with coffee, I think things will work in my favor. But toss a prayer up to the big guy for me, if you don’t mind. I’d be mighty grateful. I see Doc Marshall later today. I’ll update you all on the news with my next newsletter or check out my social media. I’ll be sure as shootin’ to post it there.

    👢 Boot Watch

If all goes well, I’m hoping to be back in a new pair of cowboy boots soon. And let me tell you… there’s just something about the right pair of boots that makes a girl feel like she can take on the whole darn world again. Right? Ever wear something that just makes you feel that good? Boots? A hat? A favorite pair of jeans? How about a duster?
So hold on Boot Barn… I’m a coming!

    Until next time,
Keep your hearts open, your coffee strong, and your stories hopeful.

    Stay prickly my friend,

    —Chrissy 💕

So kick off your boots, and settle in with Chrissy Hartmann’s romances if you love cowboy kisses, messy hearts, small-town sparkle, and lots of hope!

    PRICKLE FORREST CHRONICLES

    Chrissy Hartmann

March 2023 – Got time for a quickie?

    Dear Pricklers,

Yes, it’s a quickie. The Muses are tired and the pantry is locked. No more Oreo’s for the day. Off to bed once we finish this post.

    Okay, so first…

Orrville Public Library is hosting their 2nd Annual Author Book Signing this weekend, Saturday, March 11th from 11 am to 3 pm. And yes, I’ll be there. Don’t count on the Musedes, they’ll be bowling. Apparently, their spring league starts that day. Hmm? How convenient, right?

But they might make an appearance on Saturday, March 18th for the Massillon Public Library Book Signing. I’m excited for both, but Massillon is my first time there. Woohoo!!!

Nevertheless, I’ll have both novels at each location, Rescuing Whiskey’s Salvation and Cherishing Whiskey’s Salvation.

We’ll be doing a special price deal on both novelss for a bundle package. And if you can’t make it, it send me an E-mail from my website mentioning the special and you can order the set via E-mail or hopefully off my Extras page on the website.

But, in all honesty, I hope you’ll come… I love you guys!

    Second…

The Muses are getting restless and want me to make sure you can order any of our fun merch plus autographed books from the extras page https://chrissyhartmann.com/extras

There will be a limited supply Saturday. And don’t worry, I’ll have QR codes to pass out for links to the E-books if you’d rather have that version. We can also send you away with an autographed book cover postcard if you really want one. In fact, I’d be happy to put my signature on one.

    Finally, the best for last…

The Prickle Forrest Chronicles will be featuring two more romance authors this month. First one, Tuesday, March 14th with Cassie Mae cook and the second on Tuesday, March 28th with Sherri hollister.

    Woohoo!

Okay, I’ve been informed it’s time to hit the pillow. Sheesh, definitely a quickie here. But don’t forget about the Author interviews on the 14th and 28th. Will chat soon…

So for now, Good night Pricklers.. and don’t forget to stay prickley!
